Former Texaco Considered Ground Zero for Gladewater Revitalization

Business partners Tim Barnett and Dale Rhodes have converted a former Texaco station in downtown Gladewater, TX into The Central Station Brick & Brew. The developers hope that the new restaurant at 103 N. Main St. will bring more people downtown, and will prompt additional businesses to open shop in the central part of this East Texas town.

“Where it fits into the downtown plan is it is a vibrant destination-type restaurant that will attract people from around the area,” Gladewater Economic Development Corp.’s Robert Johnson told the Longview News-Journal. “You will have a specialized pizza with brick-oven pizza that is a specialty right there.”

The restaurant will also provide a venue for bands, though Barnett indicated that the Central Station’s entertainment wouldn’t compete with the Gladewater Opry, which has a two-hour country music stage show on Saturday nights.
