Former Vulcan Leader, Barb Wilson, Tapped for Port Chief of Staff Post

Barb Wilson

Barb Wilson joins the Port of Seattle as the Chief of Staff for the Port of Seattle Commission’s five-member elected body. Wilson brings 25 years of experience in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors in Seattle. Most recently, she was the Director of Government Affairs at Vulcan Inc.

The Commission’s Peter Steinbrueck says, “She brings the experience and depth of knowledge we need as we chart a course for relief and economic recovery in these unprecedented times.”

At Vulcan Inc., the investment and project management firm founded by the late Paul G. Allen, Wilson was responsible for local and state government affairs efforts. She worked with teams on a broad range of projects, including the company’s real estate development, philanthropic policy, and arts and entertainment efforts.

Earlier, Wilson served for 10 years as the Executive Director of the Seattle Planning Commission, and was a program manager for National Wildlife Foundation.
