Fort Greene: Primed to be Tops for Retail

The retail area primed for the strongest growth in Brooklyn this year is the intersection of Fulton Avenue and Lafayette Avenue in the Fort Greene neighborhood, according to the 2017 Brooklyn Retail Report from CPEX Real Estate.

The location is in the middle of the expanding Brooklyn Academy of Music cultural district, and about a block away from The Ashland, a mixed-use tower that will soon be home to Brooklyn’s first Apple Store and a 365 grocery store by Whole Foods.

“Popular local businesses such as Green Grape and Gotham Market are shaping the area into a vibrant cultural and retail destination,” said CPEX. Developers are also building 3,800 new residential units and over 900 hotel rooms within one quarter mile.

Other top retail areas for growth include Franklin Street in Greenpoint, Nostrand Avenue in Crown Heights, and Flatbush Avenue in Flatbush.
