Turning offices into apartments doesn’t only work in Downtown Manhattan. Local developer Bradford Craighead is planning new apartments for Norwalk’s Wall Street Historic District in Norwalk, CT.
His company, Norwalk Green Living, has bought six buildings, mostly within sight of the Green in East Norwalk. One of the buildings, the Samuel Weed House, is an historic landmark that already includes five apartments. The rest are large houses that were converted into offices. Craighead now plans to convert these office houses into new, high-end apartments with rents starting around $1,900 a month — similar to luxury apartment rents in the area.
