Future Plans Unclear for 2,500-Acre Tres Hermanos Ranch

A fight for control of Tres Hermanos Ranch’s 2,500 acres of undeveloped land in the hills between City of Industry, Diamond Bar and Chino Hills, CA continues. The City of Industry, which lost access to the land when the state’s redevelopment agencies disbanded, is seeking to acquire it.

Earlier this year it offered $100 million for the land, and promised to preserve it for public purposes. A decision about the sale was postponed until more details are known, and there are other pursuers.

Industry is negotiating with San Gabriel Valley Water and Power LLC, a newly-formed entity of investors that’s managed by Ambient Communities, a San Diego housing developer. Representatives say housing is not part of the city’s plans for the land, though haven’t disclosed what’s being considered.

Tres Hermanos Ranch is one of the largest remaining chunks of vacant private land in SoCal.
