Gensler is opening a new creative workplace at 225 Broadway in Downtown San Diego this month. The architecture firm is transforming a 21,000-square-foot, multi-level space in Irvine Company’s 22-story, 346,000-square-foot building at 3rd Avenue and Broadway.
The newly configured work environment features a ground floor entry that connects to the surrounding urban area, as well as adjacent plaza and park. The lobby opens directly onto the plaza, and serves as a collaborative urban living room. A new grand stair connects to a second-floor workspace and a mezzanine landing area that includes a new outdoor terrace overlooking Horton Plaza Park.
Gensler’s Kevin Heinly says, “Our new home is reflective of our beliefs and culture. Our goal was to accelerate connectivity, creativity and productivity. By bringing our design studio down to the street level of this iconic location in Downtown, we’ve done just that.”
