Google Expands into 280K SF at Moffett Towers

Mountain View-based Google Inc. expanded its presence in Sunnyvale, reportedly taking roughly 280,000 square feet at Jay Paul Co.’s 1.8-million-square-foot Moffett Towers campus. The search and advertising giant is taking over seven floors of space previously occupied by Motorola Mobility at 1000 Enterprise Way.

Financial terms of the transaction weren’t disclosed, but the rent is likely significantly higher since Motorola leased the office space back in early 2011.

The eight-story, 316,000-square-foot building is located across the street from Moffett Federal Airfield’s runways, where Google has airfield rights and operates the facility under a government contract.

Newmark Cornish & Carey’s Phil Mahoney, who represents San Francisco-based Jay Paul, declined to comment.
