Greystar Buys Seattle SLU Site Planned for 28-Story Tower

Greystar acquired a site at 200 Eighth Ave. N. in Seattle’s South Lake Union from the Seattle Unity Church for $20 million. The South Carolina-based apartment owner plans to develop a 28-story residential tower called The Waverly.

Designed by Weber Thompson, the project will have 374 units and an underground parking garage with 286 spaces. The deal allows Seattle Unity to build a new 7,220-square-foot church at 210 Eighth facing Denny Park. Seattle Unity’s 1960 church will be razed and replaced by a new Olson Kundig-designed church.

Construction on the residential tower is expected to begin next month, with the garage delivering next year. The project is planned to include a large deck and interior space atop a fifth-level podium, 4,700 square feet of decks on the roof, 3,200 square feet of interior view space, as well as a 132-stall bike room.

Seattle Unity plans to launch church construction in fall 2020, and anticipates delivery in late 2021.
