H5 Data Centers, headquartered in Denver, acquired the 100 Taylor Telecom Center, an 85,000-square-foot data center and carrier hotel in downtown San Antonio. The acquisition brings H5 Data into Texas, and expands its portfolio to 13 data centers. AREA Real Estate sold the data center at 301-323 Broadway St.
The appeal of the telecom center was that it serves as a key point of interconnection between long-haul routes to the west, Houston to the east, Dallas to the north and Laredo and McAllen to the south. In addition, from a risk management perspective, San Antonio is one of the safest locations in the U.S. for data centers. It also provides access to more than 25 communications carriers.
“H5 Data Centers will continue to build upon the existing interconnection ecosystem at 100 Taylor with a planned build of more than 100 colocation cabinets immediately,” said H5 Data Centers’ Josh Simms.
