Hawaii’s Pacific Beach Hotel to Undergo $115M Repositioning

Highgate Partners LP has released plans for a $115 million remodel and repositioning of the 839-room Pacific Beach Hotel managed by the New York firm. At the end of the 18-month redo, the hotel will be rebranded Alohilani Resort at Waikiki Beach on Oahu, Hawaii.

Work on guestrooms has already commenced, with remodeling of public areas slated to begin within the next several weeks. Renovations will focus on new guest services and concierge areas, a lobby bar and group arrival lounge and “pocket” gardens. The hotel at 2490 Kalakaua Ave. will remain open during renovations.

The hotel’s famous oceanarium will also undergo an upgrade, with the interior of the aquarium containing coral that will mimic the coral reef formations found in the waters of Waikiki Beach. The saltwater aquarium will serve as the home to more than 1,000 protected marine animals.
