Ice Rink Goes Up for Sale in West Loop

The owner of Johnny’s IceHouse East at 1350 W. Madison St. in the West Loop has put the property up for sale, with Bradford Allen’s Steve Fitzgerald handling the listing. No asking price has been set.

The offering consists of a 22,000-square-foot development site currently improved with a 51,500-square-foot building operating as an ice rink, according to Bradford Allen’s listing. “This offering does not include the business and a condition of any sale will preclude the buyer from continuing to operate the ice rink.”

According to the listing, there’s the potential for adaptive reuse of the existing structure. It’s considered ideal for “residential and/or retail mixed-use.”

The property’s current owner, Lisa Moro, took over operations after her husband Tom passed away in 2018, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. The sale of the property will leave just four operating ice rinks in Chicago, including Johnny’s IceHouse West at 2550 W. Madison.
