ICON MXU Proposed at Former Sunkist Growers HQ Site

IMT Residential proposed ICON, a mixed-use redevelopment project at the historic 8.3-acre former HQ of Sunkist Growers in Sherman Oaks, CA. The Los Angeles-based apartment owner and affiliate IMT Capital, LLC seek to create a low-rise pedestrian-centric urban village campus.

Johnson and Fain’s architectural plan includes restoring the landmark 126,674-square-foot building as a creative office environment. The existing modernist three-story structure will be surrounded by 4.4-acres of open space that includes rooftop gardens, and landscaped outdoor gathering spaces.

The plan also includes adding three new mixed-use residential buildings totaling 298 residential units, as well as 39,240 square feet of neighborhood-serving commercial, such as a major grocery anchor and restaurants. A new parking structure will be clad in timber lath, reminiscent of barns and farm buildings to reflect the area’s agricultural past.
