Local media sources, including Texas Public Radio and the San Antonio Express-News, indicate that Santa Monica, CA streaming company Hulu selected San Antonio as the site for a massive, new service center. It was reported in March 2017 that Hulu was eyeing the Alamo City, along with Albuquerque, NM for its Viewer Experience Headquarters.
San Antonio mayor Ivy Taylor told the Express-News that the city is “kind of waiting on confirmation from (Hulu).” She was more forthcoming with TPR, noting that “I understand there are still a few hurdles to cross, but I am excited that Hulu has selected San Antonio for its next major investment.”
Meanwhile, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that the move is definitely taking place, and that a Texas Enterprise Fund grant offer of $1.3 million has been extended to Hulu.
The move will add up to 500 jobs to the city’s technology sector. The facility reportedly could be up and running by fall 2017, though the location has yet to be announced.
