Jacobs Engineering to Pay $2.8B for CH2M

Jacobs Engineering Group Inc., headquartered in Dallas TX, struck an agreement to acquire Englewood, CO-based CH2M for $2.85 billion. The cash-and-stock acquisition is being considered one of the engineering industry’s largest deals ever. The transaction is scheduled to close in late 2017.

Jacobs will combine both corporate centers in Dallas, where it relocated from Pasadena, CA in 2016. CH2M’s 20,000 employees will join Jacobs’ base of 54,000 employees. “There’s a significant opportunity to grow both our Dallas and Fort Worth operations, which means creating jobs,” Jacobs CEO Steve Demetriou told the Dallas Morning News.

The move will help Jacobs obtain more of the highways, bridges and airport work anticipated to come from President Donald Trump’s $1 trillion infrastructure-spending plan.
