Renaissance Rialto, a new redevelopment project, is moving forward on 1,500-acres of land that includes the former 500-acre Rialto Airport. Developers are in talks with potential tenants for 700-acres of industrial space, as well as a planned 60-acre shopping center. The residential plan includes a mix of 1,300 rental and for-sale housing units.
Developer for the project is Lewis-Hillwood Rialto Company, LLC., a joint venture between Lewis Planned Communities (part of Lewis Group of Companies) and Hillwood, a Texas-based company owned by Ross Perot.
Construction on the first 300,000 square feet of retail space is slated to start this summer, with the opening scheduled for late next year. The full build-out of the entire Renaissance Rialto project is expected by 2030.
