As Chicago prepares to transition to the “cautiously reopen” third phase of its plan to restart the city’s economy, the Lightfoot administration released industry-specific guidelines for businesses, employees, and customers to follow.
The guidelines cover operations for child care, commercial and residential buildings, food service, hotels and outdoor parks, retailers including fitness clubs, manufacturing and warehousing, healthcare, transportation and taxi/ride-hailing services, all slated to begin reopening in early June. Guidelines for sporting events, religious services, outdoor performances, summer programs, the Lakefront and museums will be available later in phase three.
“Our transition to Phase Three of our reopening framework represents a major step for Chicago and our journey to a safe and successful recovery from the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis,” said Mayor Lori Lightfoot. She added, though, that while the new guidelines were developed in close partnership with industry leaders, “our work is far from over.”
