Those who travel for business and leisure should prepare to see some new hotel brands. Specifically, boutique brands will be coming online. The reason for the boutique hotels is because of the big hotel companies. R. Mark Woodworth with CBRE Hotels’ Americas Research said Hilton and Marriott have so many properties up and running under their existing brands, that they need to launch new ones to keep growing.
Additionally, millennials are becoming a growing percentage of customers, and their tastes tend toward hipper lobbies and restaurants, and better technology in rooms. As a result, hotels are rolling out new brands – then franchise the brands or operate the hotels for the owners. Hyatt’s Hyatt-Centric, and Marriott’s Moxy brands are two such examples of this trend.
