Craft brewing has emerged as one of the most positive growth stories in the marketplace. Craft brewing concepts accounted for roughly 10 million square feet of occupancy growth in the U.S. last year alone. The meteoric rise of craft beer in the U.S. is detailed in a new Cushman & Wakefield report titled, Craft Brew: The Rise of the Little Guys.
The top two counties nationwide with craft breweries in development are Los Angeles and Harris County (Houston). The report also ranked San Diego and King County (Seattle) as the top two markets booming with existing breweries.
Cushman & Wakefield retail researcher Pamela Flora says, “Two key factors have driven the growing popularity of craft brews: foodie culture and the millennial generation.”
Over the past decade, the number of active craft breweries nationally has more than tripled, from 1,409 in 2006 to 5,234 in 2016.
