H-E-B, headquartered in San Antonio, announced it would open its first-ever store in the West Texas city of Lubbock. Construction on the more than 120,000-square-foot store at 114th Street and Quaker Avenue is scheduled to begin in early 2020, with opening slated for later that year.

According to H-E-B, the store’s design will “reflect the look, feel and traditions unique to Lubbock.” The in-house design is being spearheaded by several Texas Tech University graduates. The store will be environmentally sustainable, incorporating energy-efficient features such as CO2 refrigeration units and LED lighting.

In addition to groceries, the store will include an H-E-B pharmacy, curbside pickup, and the company’s branded Texas Backyard, which offers outdoor plants, pottery, grills and other essentials.
