Macy’s Launches Lifestyle Sections, Mini-Stores Concept

It is no secret that many retailers are struggling to hit sales targets, gain traction against online sales or maintain any sense of customer engagement in stores. Macy’s believes it has a solution.

The Cincinnati-based retailer is set to unveil a test this month at its Easton Town Center location in Columbus, OH. The concept is built around lifestyle sections and mini-stores within the department store to help create a more relevant experience.

For instance, the Restore, Nourish and Strengthen section will feature fitness-oriented products, and athletic clothing, as well as a juice bar. Among the store-within-a-store offerings are a spa and a LensCrafters. Personal shoppers will be available through a program called “My Stylist @ Macy’s.” Oh, another thing, sales representatives will henceforth be called “ambassadors.”
