Made in New York Will Displace New York Businesses

Dozens of small businesses and artists who now rent space at the warehouses of Bush Terminal will have to move, as the buildings are renovated for the City’s planned Made in New York Campus of film and garment manufacturing companies.

The $136 million campus is expected to open in 2020, with 200,000 square feet for garment manufacturing and 100,000 square feet for film and television production.

Renovation will also mean sharply higher rents at Bush Terminal. “We are being displaced to be replaced… everybody’s got to be out by August,” said Joseph Amaniera to Curbed New York. Amaniera is the owner of Looking Good Inc., a 25,000-square-foot garment business that has rented a space in the warehouse at 13 42nd St. for over 12 years.
