The commercial real estate industry has long adopted initiatives to support the community or causes that help others. The most recent example of that practice of giving back comes courtesy of Marcus & Millichap’s team in Southern California.
The West Los Angeles office of the real estate investment brokerage has participated in a softball tournament for roughly 25 years, mainly as a team-building and fun activity. This year the team of 20 rallied around the National Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation to support breast cancer awareness. That decision was well- timed, since October is breast cancer awareness month.
Marcus & Millichap’s Tony Solomon says, “Unfortunately, the odds are that cancer will affect all of us at some point in our lives, whether directly or indirectly through a family member or close friend. But, there are things we can do to contribute to fight and win this battle, and one of them is donate time and money to help find a cure.”
The West Los Angeles team from Marcus & Millichap has raised $12,000 so far this month. That number is expected to rise, too. “I’m very proud of how our agents, staff and assistants all responded with their support. What was also great is that when the other offices found out about our fundraising drive, they joined in, too. It really added a rewarding and fulfilling dimension to our annual softball tournament,” said Solomon, who notes virtually the whole West L.A. office got involved in the fundraising effort, and more women participated on the softball team this year, too.
