A giant Marriott-and-Residence Inn at John F. Kennedy International Airport received design approval from the New York City Department of Buildings.
Developers Soundview Real Estate Partners and Chartwell Hospitality expect to break ground on the 540-room, 270,000-square-foot hotel later this year. Another Marriott hotel, a 330-room, 170,000-square-foot Courtyard by Marriott-and-Residence Inn at 215 Pearl St., is already under construction and is expected to open in 2018.
But wait, there’s more: the City’s first Marriott TownePlace Suites, at 324 West 44th St., is expected to open later this year, and a Marriott SpringHill Suites-and-Fairfield Inn & Suites at 338 West 36th Street is expected to open in late 2018.
“They are just the latest sign that tourism in New York City continues on its upward trajectory,” said Gene Kaufman, principal and founder of Gene Kaufman Architect, which designed all these developments.
