Matthew Carney Joins Aries Capital Team in SoCal

Chicago-based Aries Capital, LLC expanded its SoCal team with the addition of Matthew Carney as Vice President on the full-service commercial real estate mortgage and investment banking firm’s business development and originations team. Based in Santa Monica, Carney will be responsible for structuring financing for hotel, industrial, self-storage, retail, office, multifamily and other commercial real estate properties nationwide, including construction, bridge, mezzanine and permanent debt and joint venture equity arrangements.

He will also evaluate new capital sources and investment opportunities and leverage his local market expertise and lender relationships to expand Aries Capital’s West Coast business.

Prior to joining Aries Capital, Carney was a principal with California-based Sycamore, LLC, a real estate private equity fund he co-founded that focused on acquiring scaled portfolios of student housing assets. Prior to Sycamore, Carney was a member of the Private Equity Group at Ares Management in Los Angeles, where he evaluated equity and credit opportunities for the firm’s corporate opportunities funds.
