McDonald’s has sold its formal global headquarters campus in Oak Brook, IL to billionaire entrepreneur Paul DeJoria for an undisclosed sum. He’ll assume ownership of the 80-acre site that includes the former McDonald’s campus office building, Hamburger University training facility and a Hyatt- branded and managed hotel.
JLL’s Scott Miller and Lindsey Fahey represented McDonald’s in the sale. Perry Higa with NAI Hiffman advised the buyer.
“This campus comes with a rich history and significance to the community,” said DeJoria. “I am honored to continue that legacy.”
DeJoria’s plans for the campus weren’t immediately clear. JLL said the acquisition and future development would be led by a dedicated team based in Austin, TX. Hyatt will continue operating the hotel.
Hines has gotten approvals from the village of Oak Brook to redevelop a 17.5-acre portion of the sprawling campus. That parcel wasn’t included in the sale to DeJoria.
