McKesson Corp. announced it would relocate its corporate headquarters from San Francisco to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, effective April, 2019. The pharmaceutical company will be located in the Las Colinas neighborhood of Irving, TX, where it opened shop in spring 2017.
The company acquired the former NEC Corporation of America office building on SH 114 for its U.S. Pharmaceutical subsidiary in early 2016. McKesson sold its 488,882-square-foot California headquarters in fall 2016, and leased back 200,000 square feet. The company will continue employing more than 1,400 in California, mainly in distribution operations and sales.
According to a release announcing the relocation, the pharmaceutical company’s goal is to move toward a hub-location strategy. This involves “co-locating people, based on the type of work they do to improve teamwork, advance innovation and increase efficiency,” said President and CEO Brian Tyler.
