Medical City Dallas Announces Heart & Spine Centers

Medical City Dallas is spending $92 million to convert the former flagship hospital of Forest Park Medical Center into Medical City Heart Hospital and Medical City Spine Hospital.  The new centers will open in the 194,000-square-foot vacant building at 11990 N. Central Expwy. in Dallas during October 2019.

HCA of Nashville acquired the shuttered property in 2016 for future growth. It also acquired the 54-bed Forest Park Medical Center in Frisco for $96 million, and re-opened it as Medical City Frisco. Medical City Spine Hospital will have 24 private patient rooms, while Medical City Heart Hospital will offer 63 private patient rooms.

Forest Park Medical Center consisted of a chain of doctor-owned hospitals that filed for bankruptcy after the doctors were accused of accepting millions of dollars in bribes to perform surgeries. A federal trial is currently underway in Dallas.
