The largest construction project ever built in New York with modules is now underway in Manhattan’s Bowery neighborhood.

Each module is itself the size of a large room and was built in Poland by Polcom Modular. In November, workers began lifting the modules into place on top of the conventionally constructed three-story concert podium at 189 Bowery.

By February, the last module should be in place, topping out the 20-story building just three months after workers began installing the modules — compared to the six-to-nine months that conventional construction would have taken to accomplish the same work. Brack Capital Real Estate owns the 300-room hotel, in partnership with citizenM, which has nine open hotels and another 14 in development.
