The reemergence of Mott Haven as a residential enclave reached a milestone this week with the launch of leasing for Chess Builders’ The Arches, reportedly the first luxury apartment community to be built in the South Bronx neighborhood.
Comprising a pair of 25-story towers at 224-228 E. 135th St., at the center of Mott Haven’s rapidly growing art, music, restaurant and nightlife scenes, The Arches features a mix of 430 studio, one- and two-bedroom residences with 360-degree views of the nearby waterfront and Manhattan skyline. The Arches will also include 25 hotel rooms, along with a combined 6,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.
“The South Bronx has a rich cultural history, and Mott Haven’s housing renaissance is emblematic of the bright future that lies ahead for the blossoming neighborhood,” said Michelle Monko, director of business development at EXR, which oversees leasing for The Arches.
