AvalonBay Communities’ will welcome a 21,000-square-foot food hall into the retail space at 282 11th Ave., its new apartment tower a few steps away from the High Line Park, in West Chelsea, Manhattan.
Retail tenant Union Fare will organize the hall with a mix of food and drink vendors, along with a lounge, a bakery and a gallery. The retail space includes 19-foot ceilings, a parking garage and 310 feet fronting along 29th St. and 45 feet along 11th Ave.
In the last four years, 27 apartment projects have come on the market in West Chelsea — but the services have not yet opened for those new residents.
“Not only will Union Fare be great for the residence of the fully-occupied 710 unit Avalon West Chelsea… it will add to the neighborhood’s new vibrancy,” said Ross Kaplan, executive managing director for NKF Retail, which represented both the tenant and the landlord in the transaction.
