New Tenants Coming to Vacant Hemet Wal-Mart

Hemet’s Planning Commission has reportedly approved plans for a new $10-million project that will include such retailers as Burlington Coat Factory, Sprouts Farmers Market, and Ulta Beauty. The property, located on Florida Ave., was previously occupied by a Wal-Mart store.

Sources say the nearly 125,000-square-foot vacant space will be remodeled for Burlington and Sprouts, while a new 40,000-square-foot building will be constructed for Ulta Beauty. Project representatives expect renovations to be completed by fall.

The site has been vacant since 2004, when Wal-Mart built a larger store nearby. The property is owned by a company controlled by Kali P. Chaudhuri, a Hemet physician who also has an ownership stake in Hemet Valley and Menifee Valley medical centers.
