Related California Urban Housing, the West Coast affiliate of New York-based Related Companies, unveiled its latest vision for Museum House, a 26-story condominium tower slated to replace the Orange County Museum of Art in Newport Center. The Irvine-based developer plans to demolish the existing art museum building, located on a two-acre site at 850 San Clemente Dr.
Museum House is proposed for 100 condominiums, including, 47 two-bedroom, three-bath units, and 53 three-bedroom, four-bath units. The condos are sized from 1,750 to 4,950 square feet, and many feature private balconies.
The 295-foot building would be among the tallest in Orange County, and is being studied by the Newport Beach planning commission prior to more formal public hearings. The Orange County Museum of Art is moving to a new building in Costa Mesa.
