NewQuest Properties, headquartered in Houston, is readying for its 203,868-square-foot Camp Forbing Marketplace in Shreveport, LA. The developer will officially open the retail center later this month. The property is anchored by a 123,531-square-foot Kroger Marketplace, and includes tenants Silver Star Grille restaurant and Thrifty Liquor, among others.
An important part of the project at Flournoy Lucas and Ellerbe Roads is a 44,000-square-foot, under-construction YMCA complex. The site on which NewQuest built was once a YMCA campground, encompassing 67 acres. “This area needed retail, but it also required us, as a developer, to be mindful of the memories. We’ve created a family-friendly venue for our tenants and our neighbor, the Y,” said NewQuest’s Ashley Strickland.
Camp Forbing Marketplace is NewQuest’s first venture into Louisiana, as well as Shreveport’s first Planned Unit Development.
