2020 Next Generation Honoree: Meridian Retail Leasing’s Greg Goldberg Takes Great Initiative

Meridian Retail Leasing’s Greg Goldberg takes great initiative as a commercial real estate leasing broker. His understanding of how people think and act allows him to work efficiently to close deals because he can read people well and knows when a tenant has serious interest in a space. Colleagues say Goldberg’s greatest strengths are his persistence and his availability; he follows up with both landlords and business owners consistently and always makes time to listen to where they are going and what is happening in the marketplace.

One of Goldberg’s most notable deals was the lease for celebrity tattoo artist Bang Bang’s tattoo parlor at 62 Grand St. in Soho. An early mover among brokers on using social media as a marketing tool, he saw a post on Instagram from Bang Bang, who said he was looking for a new SoHo space. Having closed upwards of 17 deals in the immediate vicinity, Goldberg knew 62 Grand St. had the potential to be transformed into the perfect location for the tattoo artist, who agreed and subsequently spent more than $1 million on the buildout.

These are just a few reasons we chose Goldberg to be one of the New York 2020 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s fourth annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.
