Doug Bibby, longtime president of the National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC), will delay his departure until NMHC’s 2022 Annual Meeting. Bibby previously said he would step down this coming January.
Much has changed since the start of 2020, when Bibby announced his retirement plans. Now he will help the trade association’s leaders steer a path through the pandemic, nascent economic recovery and social and racial inequity that have all presented the sector with new challenges.
“While we had hoped that we would have been able to take this time to bid adieu to Doug in a manner befitting his services to the multifamily sector, instead he has agreed to continue to be our standard-bearer as we deal with serious risks from Capitol Hill to Main Street, and as we grapple with the new paradigms we are all facing,” said David Schwartz, chair of NMHC’s board of officers.
