East Coast defense contractor Northrop Grumman Corp. signed a five-year, 7,700-square-foot lease for a new cybersecurity center on San Antonio’s south side. The company will use the space at Port San Antonio for cybersecurity products to help support Joint Base San Antonio Lackland Air Force Base’s 24th Air Force.
The square footage will contain a cyber integration lab, user-experience setup, warehouse, meeting space and production facilities. Buildout is estimated to cost $1.49 million.
Northrop Grumman’s Information Systems’ Linnie Haynesworth told the San Antonio Business Journal that the location and available talent pool were two reasons why Port San Antonio was targeted. “We’re absolutely interested in growing our presence here, and look forward to a larger footprint over the years,” Haynesworth said.
