The base building redevelopment of Nuveen Real Estate’s 368 Ninth Ave. is nearing the halfway mark. OC Development Management (OCDM) is working with Nuveen to renovate the property’s lobby and ground floor, and add a 2,000-square-foot rooftop amenity space (pictured).
Originally built in 1930 by Sears Roebuck & Company as a combination warehouse and office building, the property was acquired by Nuveen from the Feil Organization and Savanna in late 2014. Situated at the southeast corner of Ninth Avenue and 31st Street, 368 Ninth sits in close proximity to Penn Station, Hudson Yards and Chelsea.
OCDM’s work helped lead to WeWork’s new 236,000 square-foot location at the building, which was the largest co-working transaction completed in New York City last year.
“Our vision to redevelop this underutilized property into a class A office building with amenities is now becoming a reality,” said Nuveen’s Galina Breslav. A third-quarter completion is expected.
