Life science organizations in the New York metropolitan area received $1.63 billion in funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2016. Only the Greater Boston area received more.
Biotech companies with locations in New York include industry giants Roche, Pfizer, and Eli Lilly. More than 1,000 other life sciences companies are located throughout the New York area, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
