Onia Sets Up at Mercantile Building

Onia, a maker of luxury swim wear and resort wear, leased the entire 37th floor of 10 E. 40th St.

All of Onia’s employees will be able to work on one open floor at their new headquarters. The modern, minimalist aesthetic is “an ideal reflection of Onia’s brand image,” according to the company. The new, 8,772-square-foot space is also bigger, and includes a sales showroom and design studios with panoramic views of the New York City skyline.

The landmark office tower, known as the Mercantile Building, was built in 1929 and is owned by Joseph P. Day Realty. Justin DiMare, senior managing director for Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, represented the tenant in the transaction.

Onia’s headquarters were previously located at 8 E. 41st St., where the brand occupied 7,000 square feet across three floors.
