Canadian developer Onni Group revised its plans for a roughly 2.17-acre site in DTLA’s Arts District that now is proposed for a 36-story residential tower. The property at 2143 E. Violet St. would also include an eight-story office building.
Upon completion the development would encompass up to 569,448 square feet. The project is now envisioned to include up to 347 new live-work units, roughly 187,374 square feet of new office space, 21,858 square feet of new commercial floor area, and a 926 square-foot community room.
Five existing buildings totaling roughly 56,686 square feet on the northern portion of the site would be retained with office, retail, restaurant, warehouse, and six live-work units. Two existing buildings and two existing open sheds would be demolished.
Construction is anticipated to begin in early 2021 and be completed in early 2024.
Two earlier versions of Onni’s plans called for a 13-story structure with 509 residential units and 288,000 square feet of commercial uses and a subsequent plan for a 15-story building contained less office space and apartments.
