Chinese courier companies are being courted by Ontario International Airport as a major gateway and hub. Executives from the airport have initiated an “aggressive” air service campaign designed to attract cargo and e-commerce users.
Companies the airport is targeting include SF Express and STO Express. The move is viewed as a way to establish the region as a key logistics connection point for Asian markets into the U.S. and Latin marketplaces.
Airport officials see a natural flow of bi-directional opportunities with companies such as Amazon, and Alibaba, given the Inland Empire’s strong base of fulfillment centers. They also believe cargo companies will consider the airport as a new stop between China and the Latin American marketplace.
