Pacific Hospitality Group Breaks Ground on New Meritage Hotel

Irvine-based Pacific Hospitality Group (PHG) is reportedly breaking ground today on a new 145-room hotel, Meritage Commons, located across the street from its existing Meritage Resort and Spa in Napa, California.

The Meritage Resort underwent a $40 million expansion in 2012, upping its room count from 160 to 322, and adding 50,000 square feet of meeting space. With Mertiage Commons, an additional 10,000 square feet of meeting space will be added, as well as a pool and a food and wine village.

Although undisclosed, sources quote that the nine acres of land that PHG purchased four years ago to build the new hotel is worth $5.6 million. Five of PHG’s 10 hotels are in Orange County, while others are in Northern and Southern California, Louisiana, and Hawaii.
