Nearly a year after acquiring a 0.59-acre parcel at 280 12th St. SW in Southwest Washington D.C. from the General Services Administration (GSA), Pacific Star Capital has submitted plans to develop a 13-story hotel on the site.
The Washington Business Journal reported that the project, designed by BBGM, calls for 163 hotel rooms and would feature a 20-foot-tall penthouse space above the 130-foot structure.
The U.S. Commission on Fine Arts was scheduled to review the project March 19, but that meeting was canceled due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The panel’s April 16 meeting has also been canceled.
The site is bounded by 12th Street, C Street, and the 12th Street expressway. Across C Street is the Cotton Annex, which the GSA sold in 2017 to Douglas Development Corp.
Douglas has been weighing a variety of uses for the property, including hospitality and multifamily, the Business Journal reported.
