The Virtual Valet San Antonio app launched on Friday, June 2, 2017, with the goal of making parking easier and more affordable in the CBD’s city-owned garages. The city partnered with Sovereign Services, a Houston-based parking management company, to produce the app.
Here is how it works: Customers request that their car be picked up anywhere within a half-mile radius of one of four downtown drop-off points, and the car is then parked in a city-owned garage. The app also accepts payments and tips (though valets also accept cash and drive-up-customers).
“This is an easy, affordable parking option that makes visits to downtown easy and accessible,” Councilman Roberto Treviño told Rivard Report. “We’ve been at this for almost 18 months, working on how to give people more options and make different parts of the city accessible for our residents, without their worrying about where to park.”
