San Jose-based Insight Realty Co. unveiled its vision for Rail Yard Place, a $360-million mixed-use project in San Jose. The long-vacant 10.6-acre site is currently zoned for commercial use only, and will require a general plan amendment.
The property was acquired in July 2015, and the developer proposes an industrial-themed 230,000-square-foot office building and 476 apartment units, complete with a faux smokestack.
Insight says it will be the first ‘Creative Office Campus’ in downtown San Jose to offer a bike-and pedestrian-oriented environment with amenity-rich residences, and offices with large open floor plates and high 18-foot ceilings. Insight, which has financing in place for the project, expects it will receive approvals and break ground by fall.
