Primark Leases Former Gap Space for First Midwest Store

Fashion retailer Primark has signed a full-building lease for the Georgetown Company’s 35 N. State St. to establish its first Midwest store. Primark will take over the entire 45,000-square-foot building, and will trade from 36,200 square feet of retail space over three levels.

“We recognized an amazing opportunity with the State Street corridor as one of the most sought-after retail destinations in the country,” said Georgetown’s Adam Flatto. “As one of the fastest growing retailers in the United States, Primark is a perfect fit for the building and will be a welcome addition to a popular list of neighboring businesses in the Loop.”

The lease for the former Gap space, which closed in 2017, is reportedly the largest on State Street since 2014.  Mid-America Real Estate Group represented Georgetown and CBRE represented Primark in lease negotiations.

Georgetown did not say when the Primark location will open its doors.
