Public-Private Partnership to Develop 100 Labor Street

The San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA) is partnering with Franklin Development to build 100 Labor Street, a $45-million, 215-unit apartment complex in San Antonio’s Lavaca neighborhood. The project, located south of the CBD, will be reserved for families or individuals who earn 50% or less of the area media income.

The new complex, which is still awaiting financing approval, would be built on either side of Labor Street, which currently contains a vacant lot and Victory Park. Jim Bailey with designer Alamo Architects told Rivard Report that the complex would be a gateway from East Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard to the historic Lavaca neighborhood.

The designs need to be presented to the San Antonio Historic and Design Review Commission for conceptual approval. SAHA and Franklin Development plan to break ground on the complex in late 2019.
