ScanlanKemperBard and ownership partner WHI Real Estate Partners LP acquired the 150,000-square-foot Iron Fireman Building complex on Portland’s east side for $5.3 million earlier this year. Now the owners are investing $10 million in the property at 4784 S.E. 17th Ave. to appeal to artisans and creative manufacturers.
The remodel is geared toward restoring the original character of the Iron Fireman Building, circa 1920s. As such, the work is focused on showing off wood floors, bricks and windows, as well as reconfiguring the building for spaces as small as 1,000 square feet. The owners are also adding showers and common spaces.
The space will be ready for lease in early 2017.
