Room & Board plans to open its first store in San Diego at the 1.5-million-square-foot Westfield UTC, which is currently undergoing a $600-million transformation. The modern home furnishings and accessories retailer is taking 17,000 square feet, and anticipates opening later this summer at 4545 La Jolla Village Dr.
The one-level showroom will feature a modern design and landscaped outdoor areas in space that was vacated by Sport Chalet last summer. Roughly 90% of what Room & Board sells is handcrafted in the U.S., typically partnering with family-owned companies, artisans and workshops across the country.
The San Diego location will be Room & Board’s 17th store, including three others in California (Costa Mesa, Culver City and San Francisco). The Minneapolis-based retailer was founded 35 years ago.
