A redevelopment plan for Manhattan Village in Manhattan Beach, CA took a step forward now that the developer and a group seeking to stop the proposed project have come to an out-of-court settlement. The makeover envisioned by RREEF includes revitalizing the 44-acre mall into an open-air environment called “The Village Shops,” with three above-ground parking decks and the consolidation of two Macy’s stores.
Located at Rosecrans Avenue and Sepulveda Boulevard, the 38-year-old shopping center sits at the gateway to the affluent South Bay community. The initial phases of work include a parking deck on the northeast portion of the site, as well as the Macy’s expansion.
The development plan includes removing more than 70,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space that will be replaced with 194,644 square feet of new space. The project is slated to be completed by 2020.
